Addendum to the addendum: The KHRC agreed today that XpressBet’s total was incorrect. The post is updated to reflect the change, which means XpressBet, indeed, had a nice gain in Q3 ADW in Kentucky.
Addendum: XpressBet Vice President Gene Chabrier said the third-quarter 2013 number released by the KHRC is inaccurate. “It seems that several of Xpressbet’s business units were omitted that were in last year’s handle number.”
Chabrier said the total for XpressBet’s Kentucky customers was $4.61 million and that the company was up 28.4 percent compared to the same period in 2012.
Correction: Because of some revisions to 2012 betting numbers, two percentage statistics were wrong in this post. They have been updated.
Original posting: The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission released account wagering totals last week for bets made by the state’s residents through licensed advance deposit wagering services during the most recent three-month period.
Bottom line: ADW growth continued for the big dogs of the market.
The nine licensed ADWs took $32.96 $35.94 million in bets from Kentucky residents during the July-to-September period, up 9.35 8.89 18.72 percent from the previous third quarter. All the numbers are based on KHRC statistics.
Louisville-based Churchill Downs Inc.’s TwinSpires.com remained the largest player during the period, taking $16.95 million in bets from Kentucky, up 19.33 percent.
Betfair’s TVG took $12.28 million in bets from Kentucky, up 4.1 percent.
The Stronach Group’s XpressBet got $1.63 $4.61 million in wagers, down up 52.82 54.51 28.42 percent.
AmWest’s $468,650 was a 57.08 percent improvement.
For January-to-September, TwinSpires leads in Kentucky with $73.59 million, followed by TVG with $43.23 million. Those two account for almost 90 percent of the $130.54 $133.52 million bet from Kentucky account holders.
